20. Baby-Sitting – Baby-sitting is another great side hustle that can earn you upwards of $100 per night! Many people start baby sitting in high school, but there’s no reason that college students and other young adults can’t keep in the game, especially if you have neighbors or relatives with young children.
Do you play a musical instrument well enough to teach it to others? How about taking your skills at producing music or sound design and teaching others as a service-based business idea based on your experience? Private music instructors in all disciplines charge upwards of $20-100/hr (or more depending upon skill and experience), and you don’t necessarily have to do them in person, either. This makes for a great side business idea that can channel your passion for music into profits.
Social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest have become popular not just for business use, but also for plenty of individuals who simply enjoy using them. You can have the best of both worlds by starting a business where you help businesses shape and carry out their social media strategies on the sites you already use.
A friend in Boston made a living doing this. He had lived in the Netherlands and was fluent in Dutch. He contacted companies who sent people to the Netherlands to work and live, and offered to provide not just his language expertise but important information on Dutch culture and living in the country. It worked. If you’re from or have lived in another country, consider channeling not just your language but your cultural expertise into a new career.
@dasjung It sounds like you paid a lot for your education, as did I. But you got to face it, today’s technology allows the average Joe to accomplish a comparable logo with much less effort than you or I could put into it, and the savings outweighs the extra benefit of our knowledge. We, as designers, have been out done. It is time to go back to school, unfortunately…
31. Mystery Shopping – Do you enjoy fast food or going into retail shops? Many companies hire mystery shoppers to test the customer service of their stores. A common one is Subway, which hires mystery shoppers to ensure that “Sandwich Artists” are following all the franchise guidelines. If you have time and can travel to different places, this could be a good side hustle.
Event Planning: Events range from parades, weddings, reunions, birthdays, anniversaries, conferences, meetings, graduations, product launches, political rallies, fashion shows, memorials, fundraisers, receptions, trade shows, conventions, company picnics, holiday parties and meetings for staff members, board members or stockholders and athletic competitions to civic events. This may take time to learn unless you are already a qualified event planner. You will need to either spend time in an event management company to learn the tricks of the trade or get a qualification from a local college.
(Consider K-1 income only if the borrower can document ownership and access to income, the business has adequate liquidity to support withdrawal, and the business has positive sales and earnings trends.)
Appreciating the time and energy you put into your website and detailed information you offer. It’s awesome to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same out of date rehashed information. Wonderful read! I’ve saved your site and I’m including your RSS feeds to my Google account.

This is one of my favorite business models. Subscription based software allows for attractive recurring revenue that is passive in nature. Moreover, the software you develop does not have to be expensive or feature-rich to be successful – A small tool that solves a big need can be just as profitable. Here’s an example of one.

50. Employee Referral Program – Again, not a true side hustle, but a great way to earn extra money. Many companies offer referral programs where you can earn anywhere from $25 to $1,000 per employee you refer. That could go a long way.
You probably have much more stuff than you realize. According to The National Association of Homebuilders, the average house size in 1973 was 1,644 square feet. That grew to 2,624 square feet in 2014. Clean the dust, sort out your storage closet, and put up a garage sale.

FlexJobs guarantees all their job leads to be scam-free, and it’s the only membership-based jobs site I currently use and trust. Their listings are updated 5-6 times per week, and there is no shortage of listings. You can currently get 30% off a subscription using promo code AFFILPROMO.
